metalwork here and spent 2 years making Kung Foo stars and braizing stick men

A friend got half way through a Freddie glove.

(One of the windows in the metal shop didn't lock properly so "various people" would get in there when the teachers were not in school)

Many years later, it occured to me that maybe they knew what we were up to but just turned a blind eye. There was no theft, other than materials, and we always made sure it didn't look like anyone had ever been there.

if you build a big one... why not just have more uprights in it... so it's a bit like shelves laying on there side

that way you could use one tower at a time... so you're not stuck with dry stuff on the bottom etc. ?

I did both woodwork & metalwork but are pretty awful at both! What am I doing here?

i did neither and yet im doing them more than ever

plumbing is all metal work and building roofs dormers and walls is all joinery

and to say i refused both metal work and joinery as i found them boring

It may seem nowt to us, but a lot of folk have no ability, desire or tools to make stuff. They're the ones it's aimed at.

But they can make fire ?
