Locked out

I went to work yesterday to swap the exhaust over on my Land Rover

got it sorted and went outside to see the lads next door, the door blew shut with my keys for the car, workshop and my phone inside

Conveniently the lads had gone out with no one on the farm at all, my two saving graces
There was a bmx that I borrowed to cycle to my bosses house,
My boss lives 10minutes away

my legs ache like hell today a bmx is certainly not the mode of transport to cycle 10 miles

If you did 10 miles in 10 minutes i'm not surprised your legs hurt BMX are not designed to go any distance thats for sure !

Well done for cycling that distance on a bike that has wheels so small. I can imagine how pleasant the drive home in the Landy felt after you got sorted.

Many years ago my little black dog stood up on the driver's seat , pushed the button down on the door and locked me out of the wagon when I delivered a load of coil steel to one of my regular drops in Leamington Spa. At 5 o'clock in the morning n the depths of winter .

I had to borrow 2 screwdrivers off the fitters and prise the side window out while the fitters offered "encouragement" and black boy stood on the seat, eyes shining and tail wagging like billy-o! With him and his brother in the cab, both of them long passed over the Rainbow Bridge, life was never dull .

A fair few years ago I managed to lock my keys in my landrover (1998 300tdi 110 defender) whilst getting ready to take the scouts on a hike, knowing the door locks were fairly worn I asked my assistant if he had a screw driver, nope, so I ended up unlocking the landy with a 20p coin.... Next day a new set of locks were ordered!

I’ve locked myself out of vehicles twice. Put the window in the first time, dog was locked inside and it was going to a while before any help came. Second time I dropped the keys down a drain, sixty miles from help. Ended up fishing down the drain with a piece of fence wire. Got the keys eventually

Dogs and central locking.

Been there done that. My mate had just bought a newish car, key in ignition, dog found the central locking button.
Where's the spare key, I said? In the glovebox....
Window eventually smashed, new door.

My sister dropped a prescription in to our doctors surgery and she locked my(at the time) new born nephew in the car with the engine running...

my neighbour came to the rescue and broke into the car, obviously had a miss spent youth

A mate of mine locked himself out of his Range Rover Vogue, Had to ring the local vehicle lock specialist, Took him around two minutes to get in,Wouldnt let anybody watch what he did and charged £80-00

I have endless experience of losing keys. Like several new lock sets on vehicles and new house keys etc etc! Its because I have a bad memory and lose no end of stuff if I don't put things where they 'belong'. Having paid for a new lock set for the camper van I have gone back to what I used to do years ago and tie wrapped spare underneath all my vehicles.

I don't take the keys out very often if at all so it makes it more likely that I lose them when I do.

did it not spit out any sweets when you put the 20p in the hole and gave it a twist?!?

Only done it twice, first time locked myself out of a Rover 216 (old shape) with the keys in the ignition. Don’t know what made me do it but I had a plastic calendar in my wallet, about the size of three credit cards - slid it between the glass and the the rubber seal above the lock and up popped the button, couldn’t believe my luck!

Second time was last year, collecting a 7.5t tanker from a Thames Water site. Unlocked it, checked the levels and started it up before doing my walk-round checks, shut the drivers door and the both doors self-locked, with the windscreen wipers going . Site didn’t have a spare key so called their breakdown, guy had one of those little inflatable pouches you see in DIY shops, got the top of the door open then in with a wire coat hanger to pop the lock, all the while the site security guys are getting uppity as apparently they had a bigwig visiting anytime soon

I used to drive for a company in Hull and got locked out of the Renault artic I drove while loading near Brandesburton.

The boss's wife brought me the spare keys out, which wasn't a bad thing as she was seriously fit and wore short skirts which were inappropriately short for the MD's wife but none of us complained .

It could have been worse though, the load was for St Austell...
