Load conversion

Looking at some ratchet straps in Lidl and they are rated in daN (?? Newtons?) had a look for conversion to Kg which I would understand but most links don't work and one got stopped by anti-virus! .
Anyone got a clue?

250daN = 254.929053244 kgf.

500daN = 509.858106489 kgf.

I could understand not using pounds/tons etc but kg is a recognisable SI unit, I've worked in engineering over 30 years and never heard of it!

ive seen it on a few transits and other small trucks. it possibly allows easier allowance for movement of load braking etc

Only need a couple to leave in boot for occaisonal use, keep the "proper" ones in garage!

I've had some of the lidl ones before, they're ok for lighter stuff

Silverline make very good 25mm wide ratchet straps, great for motorbikes, strong and last for years

I buy loads of straps of these guys always next day delevery, those DIY jobs are really pony and TBH not even cheep, they just stretch and stretch.....

A good link but they don't appear to have ones with the "S" type hooks on that I want

Good link Matt. We have a lot of the 5t ones; we've snapped quite a few of the tie-down points of the bed of the little wagon by tightening them too tight.

when we recovered that trailer from the A13, the load despite the cab missing from the lorry and the axles removed from the trailer, the ratchets were all still holding onto the bulk of the load, they were only cheepies from those guys, we had to cut em all to recover so there be another set of ten on order soon....
