dad wanted a digger bucket modified with two teeth on each side i was hoping to stick weld but sadly the fabricator wanted down hand mig its not something i ever would do for structural welding but i give up arguing i did say its no good but still i did it when he left i used preheat and as much power as i could to keep the pool under control about 29 volts it don't look to bad tho
Edit, I'm guessing you mean verticle down. In that case then it's not the best position but if you lose a tooth off the bucket it's not the end of the world

I'm more clued up on stick but there's no way I'd choose that on anything other than thin sheet.
What has the client been drinking/smoking?
I think I'd have done it properly and said it was done their way. Even though following instructions I wouldn't like to have it fail due to doing it wrong.
