Little help needed with bucket seat mounts.

Hi all

See the photos below of the bucket seat mounts iv have designed got cut out on laser and had pressed into the shape its in. The problem is that the upright seat mounting face is not quite at 90° to the base yet (right hand bracket shows the seat mounting face needs to come in a further 5 or so degrees).

My question is do any of you have a better way of achieving the 70° angle i want to bring the seat mounting face 90° to the base. All i can think is just heating the bend and hammering the base to achieve the 70° im after.

I think I got that. Best take it to someone with a brake press that has blades and vees that are over 90 degrees.

Thats how iv got this far, the bend thats is supposed to be 70 degrees was done on a press brake but it needs to be bent just a little bit more.

so dose anyone no if you can get a forming tool that dose angles less then 90 degrees, or a forming tool to actually get the 70 degrees im after.

I think press brake tooling can be less than 70*

They maybe didn't allow for the "spring back" of the material or weren't too bothered about it. Or maybe they didn't want to change the tooling for two brackets.

If you specified the angles etc, and you paid for it to be done then maybe you need to take them back and get them to sort it.

The bend where it goes vertical looks a bit rough for a laser.

What did you pay for?. Like I said, take it back or take it to someone with knife edge blades. A 30 deg knife edge blade forming into a channel will form 70 deg.

That could be it, does anyone know what the spring back is for 4mm M/S laser grade.

I didn’t pay for it, was just a favour. I did the drawings in cad and a mate cut them out of flat 4mm plate and I give it to a other mate who bent them into the shape I wanted. 70 on the bottom and 20 back again for the 2nd bent to bring them back in line.

The mate who bent them sed his forming tool only went to the angle it’s at, and said that’s all he could do. I’m willing to take it somewhere and maybe pay to have them sorted, just wanted to know if it could be done or just heat them up and give it a bash

Do you mean the cut or the bend as I don’t think it was bent using a laser guide.

Thanks for the information, is this something I can ask an engineering firm over the phone as the few I have rang just sed bring them in ill take a look or they need more material to grip it. The base is only 47mm wide.

Any sheet metal firm could do it. Take it in on Saturday morning.

Put it in the vice and hit it with a big hammer and it will bend on the line where it's already started, you shouldn't need any heat. Clamp a piece of 3x2 or some decent angle either side of it to support it in the vice while you hit it.
