Your forgetting the bit where Colin Chapman says “ just add lightness”Just going to throw this out there, that really doesn't look like a complicated part, could it not just be made in mild steel?

Looking at that part... its too light to withstand the loading over time is my guessWhy are the bearings failing?
My guess would be that a 6206 single row ball bearing is rather a small bearing, the two bearings setup the way they are, I don’t think they are up to the axial loading that they will get hitting curbs and pot holes and the likes even from careful driving. Why are the bearings failing?
Because if you look at the design - you will realize it is hugely questionable verging on ridiculous......Why are the bearings failing?
The Lotus Europa only weighs some 700 kg but the drive shafts on these cars form the upper lateral suspension link so axial loadings are high.My guess would be that a 6206 single row ball bearing is rather a small bearing, the two bearings setup the way they are, I don’t think they are up to the axial loading that they will get hitting curbs and pot holes and the likes even from careful driving.
See a 6206 bearing in a mug for scale:
You never know when a 6206 shielded bearing will come in handyI am curious to know why you would have a 6206 (with steel dust shields?) laying around.....
