Hey everyone i,m new to the site and have a problem with my welder it is a wire feed the other day i was welding 1/8 plate to my quad and the feeder just quit the welder is getting power but it just wont feed i took out the wire with out a problem so the wire being stuck isn't the problem i,m lost

can anyone help

I've moved this to the Lincoln section.
If I'm understanding your post correctly you were welding 1/4" plate with a 90 amp mig welder?
The machine is capable of 1/8" at an absolute maximum so most likely you were running it at it's highest setting which may have tripped the thermal cutout.
If so then leaving it to idle for 10 minutes or so should have reset it. Did a light come on on the front panel?

no sir i was welding 1/8 plate as i had mentioned in my first post so your saying to leave it turned on for about 10 min them it should work

no light came on there's no lights on it other then the power light on the switch i run the welder at heat setting at 1 the feeder speed is at 3

Sorry, don't know where I got 1/4" from
When a welder reaches a certain temperature a sensor (usually on the transformer) detects this and shuts power to the transformer to allow it to cool down and also illuminates a lamp (if it has one) on the front panel.
The cooling fan will still run but the machine will not feed wire or strike an arc until it's back down to a safe temperature.
That will normally take quite a few minutes.
I wouldn't expect that to happen at such a low setting though, I don't imagine you were doing massively long runs?

no sir i was just tacking the plates into place i have done a 10 inch run before then let it cool down knowing that this welder being small and would not be able to take a long run over 10 inches for too long also this particular welder doesn't have a fan inside but it should i would agree with that

Not really sure what to suggest then other than take the cover off and look for anything obviously wrong, broken wire, bad connector etc.
I take it you've tried it since and it's still dead?

yes unfortunately i might have to replace the feeder motor

do you still have power at the torch ie if you were to pull some mig wire out of the torch will it arc ?

have u checked to make sure theres power to the feed motor ? what voltage is it

so then it sounds like some of the pcb is working as the relay is working and depending on type the gas solenoid should be aswell.
for a simple test i would put a 12 volt power source to the motor if it works then it will be the speed control on the pcb or possibly a bad connection

well i,m hoping to get it fixed if its just the motor got my fingers crossed we have 30 degree weather right now so i,m checking it after

TY everyone for your help it seems that the trigger wasn't pushing the contact there for it wasn't feeding
