I have a Lincoln SP170-i which granted is old but has been an excellent machine.
At the weekend I was welding away and stopped to turn the work piece, only momentarily machine wasn't switched off. I could then get the machine to start welding again. Fan runs and all appears okay with the earthing lead, I have remade connections.
Wire doesn't feed and when I manually drew wire through I could get an arc when striking the wire off the earth strap with the trigger pulled. I have test the switch on the trigger and it is working correctly however there is no voltage apparent.
I am very loathed to bin what is a brilliant bit of kit, can anybody tell me anything else I can test to identify where the problem lies. Possibly more important does anybody know if spares can be sourced for these units still? (it must be 20 years old)
Thanks for taking the time to read
