glad you have it running n working david. where did you get the hoses from? ours are ok apart from the filler neck one which is way to short. just made a rempte box for mine along with solenoids for auto idle and stop start off the remote .

so plan for the weekend if I Survive work this week get the exciter cleaned and cover back on get the 110 v re wired and try some 6010 rods get a feel for the welder then plan the tin work and I might invest in some money in samco hoses. U said u made a remote for ur welder is it easy

allways is when i start but im murder for over complicating things .im way to ocd with everything .the remote is easy its an extra reostat same as the one on the lft of your dashboard . its housed in a small box with an extension type lead . all you need is a changeover switch to swap between dash or remote .. i had to go one further n do stop start idle etc .. all the reostat does is change the voltage .set your amps n trim the voltage to suit when welding .really does help ..

my laptop is screwed at the moment when its fixed iwill get some photos etc if it helps ? i think there a brilliant welder . used to do tons of site work in my earlier years .weve had mosa , genset, arcgen etc etc .i concentrate more on shop work now so this is perfect for the use it gets . plus its old school which i like .

should work well .ive ran a tig machine off a genset but never used one as atig .

well after the rad crapping its self I chucked some k seal in it and it held pressure in the rad so just need to replace the cap as it lets some pressure out but it held. Hoses were solid

Well blew the welder top frost plug cracked f my plans today being that was my only down time. Gunna be back to work back running around with no time to my self so don't know when I'm gonna get chance to repair it. Expect photos tho

Well repaired the frost plug on Friday now blown the f n head gasket I give up. Don't know how to repair it I also don't have time at the moment plus the rad split some where else to

NO THE END O THE WORLD simple pushrod engine get a local guy to pressure test the head and give it a skim if needed reseat the valves when your in there re cored radiator and your back in the game

Cheers for that buddy just been speaking to dad he thinks it's not gone it was dark. But am i correct if water is pushing back through the expansion tank I was welding for 3 hrs. I'll keep you posted. I really got to sort this rad out. Question dad said the top of the rad was hot but the bottom was cold what does that mean ?

Best way to get to the bottom of this is to overhaul the coolant system. Pull the head, have it pressure tested, check it for flatness, skim if required. New gasket is cheap as chips from ebay.

Recore the rad, it needs to be done I'm afraid. New water pump, new stat, new cap... should be good for long service then.

Copper head gasket is about 18 quid off ebay, regular fibre one is about 8 quid. Search fordson head gasket, there's loads of parts on there.

Yeah mate I'll finish it of with MIG down the yard as it took quite some time to just weld the stiffener plates in. The plate is 10mm you can see where I tried to do it in on pass guess I could of used a 4mm rod
