Lincoln Invertec and generator?

Hi all,
I have been lurking on the forum for some time but never posted before so here's my first question.
I have recently got an old Lincoln Invertec V100S and would like to know if it is safe to use it off a generator.
The welder works perfectly considering it's age and I would like to keep it that way, I also have a 6KVA generator and it would be great if I could use them together in my barn that is off the mains.
I phoned Lincoln and the man there seemed a bit ambigous, he didn't seem to want to commit himself.
If there is any real doubt I won't use them together as the welder is working really well at the moment.

invertec and generator

Hi, also first posting, I have an Invertec 130 which has been run off a 3.5 kva generator quite effectively. The genny sometimes struggles a little, but so far I've had no problems at all. Stick to small rods and you should be all right. Dave Ps on 100 amps I don't suppose you'll be running 4mm rods.
