Probably made 1963, Lincoln motor generators were the same where ever made, always reliable only needed commutators & brushes cleaning / checking now again.Hey I’m just after information on this welder, how old it is its View attachment 282956View attachment 282957View attachment 282958weight etc
Lincoln Electric Company ( LECO ) had a manufacturing plant at Blackfan Road, Welwyn Garden City, GKN took that operation over & name changed to GKN Lincoln Electric, SAE motor & engine driven machines, transformers, MIG CVR/FCR, submerged arc deck & boom welders, electrodes & wire, they were all made there. It was a large factory & had own railway sidings. This is an old photo' beforetThe land on the left was cleared & a large staff car park built. It was when the oil first started up in Nigg Bay, McDermotts, Santa Fe etc etc...........they probably brought them with them......Big 3 Lincoln set up a big place in Delny near Invergordon......even the staff there were American initially.....my later Boss was a Texan that had been sent over to manage that supply and ended up in charge of a massive company..
I thought all the GKN equipment was Lincoln made in USA and rebranded but then I saw a photo of them making equipment......must have been under license or part of the original deal (Lincoln sold up in the UK because they thought we were going communist). I remember seeing some papers around 1988 when Lincoln bought the name back from Esab, until then they had rights to use the same names for some products and we couldnt.
Did you know Ralph Yeo, David Boag, Jock Robertson....there are loads of others but Im trying to remember namesLincoln Electric Company ( LECO ) had a manufacturing plant at Blackfan Road, Welwyn Garden City, GKN took that operation over & name changed to GKN Lincoln Electric, SAE motor & engine driven machines, transformers, MIG CVR/FCR, submerged arc deck & boom welders, electrodes & wire, they were all made there.
