Hi mike, things starting to at last come clear re my welder, i have my welder at a shop which sell new lincolns and fix machines too, they said they couldnt find what was wrong with it so they took a PCB of one of the new machines on in the shop and tried it in mine, it worked perfectly! They said the PCB board part numbers are identical and they dont know why the new one i purchesed doesnt work, the guy said maybe the programming of the processor is set up differently or the pcb is actually faulty, so my old board doesnt work, my new one is exactly the same but also doesnt. But they have fitted their own new board which works perfectly welding for 15mins they say, very strange. My priority now is to get the money back for the board i bought then have this new one fitted! What a game! Thanks again for all of your help and advice sorry we had such a wild goose chase :/

Well it was certainly a learning curve 
Glad to see there is light at the end of the tunnel and you will have your machine up and running soon.
Have worked for companies in the past that used "refurbished parts and pcbs". Not saying that this is the case here but you always treat with suspicion a pcb that has signs of previous use and you can end up introducing or changing errors on equipment which is why you some times have to take two steps back and if necessary refit ori (sus part) to confirm what faults you have!
I did notice there was a processor / firmware chip on pcb which may well be a personality chip / firmware. Note that the pcb does seam to be used in several Lincoln machines and may be pre programed differently for each.
It was nice to see so much info available for a mig pcb.
