Light guards

Probably not of interest to most, but here goes.

Optoscan light guards: sussed out where the cables have been cut and where everything has come from, so i'm pretty sure that with a good few metres of cable and some Kopex i can get these re-wired.

Can't find any manuals on line, so i've taken a picture of the front in the hope that someone can give me a few pointers.

The fact there are no keys for the switches doesnt help at this stage. Easily swapped over though.

Any advice greatly received.

I'm not familiar with that particular guard, but when we had trouble with our Hibass guards, these boys soon sorted it, they are ex Hibass engineers, maybe worth a call to them.

That box controls sensors which project an infrared beam across the working part of a machine.
It won't let you operate the machine if the light beam is broken and should stop the cycle if the beam is broken during operation of said machine so stops limbs and digits from being severed or squished.

Ah yes, we call it the barrière at our plant! they're fitted on almost every machine! Mind you i never saw that box that operates the whole thingy...

Not familair, but used a few similar sytems, chances are you need to turn that key switch to reset, then back to run, reset will probably be a spring loaded possition...

What does the bottom key switch do for me?

The M will be muting..which is the area of the light guard dissabled iirc, often you would dissable the guard once the initial stroke has reduced the gap between tooling sufficiently...

You may find, the swich allows one continous stroke, or inintial stroke, them final stroke.

1, mute off, stroke stop off. It wont go down if light guard is blocked
2, Mute on, stroke stop off. It will allow you to insert say a bit of 10mm plate, inline with the gap, but no bigger, and go full stroke.
3, mute off, stroke stop on. You need the guard clear, for the initial stroke, but it will stick with a small gap in the tooling, which will allow you to interupt the guard, unless you fully beam up.

4, mute on, stroke stop on, as 2, but stays in short stroke mode

Welderpaul,I have the same light guards on a pressbrake.The people Paul linked to took over Hibass when they went down the tubes.
Have you had any joy getting them going?

To be honest Mark, we havnt had chance to even look at them with the workload at the minute, hoping once rewired they work ok, otherwise they look like the boys to speak to.
What machine have you got?

I`ve got a little Haco 35 tonner with them on.When I bought the machine several years back it turned out the control was faulty and Kingsland sent it back to Belgium for repair.It took that long and cost so much that I told them there will never be another Haco Group machine on my shop floor.I had another 80 ton brake at the time but the workload was such that I had to go out and buy a Promecam while the Haco was being repaired.When the control came back it was thrown in the store and never fitted.I could now do with that machine going.
I spoke to the guys who took over Hibass and they were most unhelpful,totally refused to give any info of any kind.So I called Cambrake and they were the opposite and told me how to configure it,but,it was a long time ago and I hope I still have the notes.
