Lifting Tongue and Groove Floor

You used to be able to get a device that was a fine bladed saw wheel on a ratchet - you put a foot on it and cranked the handle to cut the tongue without marking the surface of the board.

Nowadays I suppose you'd use a Fein Multitool reciprocating blade ?

I still have a couple of them made redundant using a multitool now. ones 47 years old

4lb hammer and feather splitter IS a multi tool LOL

or the battery Makita rip which has a really thin kerf, tungsten tiped blade so you dont stop for nails.

As a variation on Britespark's proposal, how about say 4" hole saw through the ceiling halfway between two joists, small (say 19mm) hole saw on some sort of an extension shaft in a drill through that hole (as parallel to the ceiling as possible) to pierce the joists either side of the hole. Move along two joists and repeat. Holes should be large enough to get your hand through to thread the cable through the joists, but small enough to be easily repairable.

Thats not a bad idea actually - I have a flexible drill shaft that would probably do this if I am careful and SWMBO can control the drill

I only drill through joists like that if I can clearly see both sides, every chance there could be cables or pipes clipped to the side you cannot see. Needn't be a huge hole, just enough to see where your drill bit is going to break through.

Good point. I have a cheapie lidl endoscope that can help with that.

or after having a electic shower for quite a few years of my life how far is the hot and cold feeds why not put a thrmostatic shower in ?

You may well be able to detect any hazards with a cable/stud/pipe detector on the appropriate setting. I have a Plasplugs one that's pretty good, but it hasn't a hope in hell through tiles.

One of my fun tasks is to drop central heating pipes down the inside of a plasterboard wall, working close to the pitch of the roof, so you have to drop short lengths down and cut holes out of the plasterboard to solder them together. Obviously you have to do this at the noggins...

I've spent a fortune on those stud/ cable/ pipe finders. Yet to find one I'd trust. Nowt like being able to see what the drill " may or may not" go straight through.
Only did it once; in my own home and hit a gas pipe. Never again !

i use the thousand to one rule when drilling ...... for every thousand holes u drill u will go through a pipe or a cable
