A friend of mine has purchased a colchester student, I see no areas to put bars through for lifting like the harrisons, and I know lifting from the chuck is frowned upon, any experience? thanks
It’s only about 650kg ish. That engine crane did well with its jib out that far, I have one just like it made by Tangye, think i might need to change the hydraulic hose before i try lifting summat that heavy.
KimB, curious how you got on loading and transporting the round head student in the back of what looks like your ford transit custom? As others have said, the lifting point is in the centre. Well at least for a round head one. you can use the saddle to balance the leaves as well
Maybe widen the footprint like this?Lifting eye in the hole in the bed in front of the chuck, and balance by sliding the tail stock up and down the bed. Beware they are top heavy - I've managed in the past to drop one on it's side from a pallet pump truck
