Life insurance

Am looking to take out, life insurance what are people's thoughts, would I ,be better talking to a broker, or going online to some comparison sites? Not necessarily, looking for cheapest, rather pay a bit more, so that wife and kids, have as easy time, getting sorted out , as quickly as possibly.

If you do take out life assurance, make sure the payout doesn't get added to your estate, otherwise the HMRC will take a bite out of it.
I'd go to a broker, that you trust.
You can get reducing sum policy for a mortgage, if you have one, that will pay it off if you die.
Those ones on the telly that offer you a Parker pen or M&S voucher get right on my Bristols, avoid.

Ive been told they work on 80 years so if youre 70 now the amount you get is 10 years payments....etc etc......If you die before 80 you win, if you live past 80, they win....

My wife, who is 64, has £50k cover for around £23 per month. It is set up as a trust so no tax liability if she dies. The lump sum goes to her daughter. It is with Aviva. I continue with it for my wife's peace of mind.
I gave up with my life assurance when I hit 65. It became too expensive. All our children are grown up, my wife would continue with my private pension plus other investments.
I've been saving for a rainy day all my working life, it is now ******* down, so we are spending it!
