Do the regular 20v Team batteries fit the performance stuff?
The actual performance line is compatible with X20V Team battery platform .Do the regular 20v Team batteries fit the performance stuff? I was always under the impression that they were different...
As for a grinder spanner, honestly... Can't remember the last time I used one. Unless they have reversable grinders now, the disk won't come off no matter how loose you tighten the nut.
Really?? In all honesty what’s the likelihood of that happening? Surely if the nut was to go slack the disc will slip and if cutting at the time it would simply stop spinning? in any case I think you’d know it was loose and stop the grinder long before it became a flying throat slitter. Exploding discs are far more dangerous, as you’ll well know.and the alternative is the disc flying off at 22,000 rpm

I’m another who often can’t be bothered to use the spanner though I do tend to when mounting slitting discs as they’re a bit fragile. as others have said, on most discs a quick bump with a gloved hand nips them up just fine and the direction of rotation keeps them tight. I’ve not had one come loose yet.
I may have got the grinder speed wrong, but if it wasn’t meant to be properly tightened a key wouldn’t be supplied
you all can do what ever you want, but I’ll carry on tightening up properly with the key
As sad as that might be I doubt very much it involved an angle grinder disc coming loose due to him not using the pin spanner.perhaps I’m biased by knowing and seeing pics of what happens when things go wrong.
Today I’ve been dealing with a situation where a man won’t be going home for a long long time and then won’t ever be the same again. He went to do a job that was only gonna take 10 mins, just a quick thing, done it loads of times before. He took a short cut, something he’s done many times.
All the right kit was there on site
I have one of the brushed 20v Parkside grinders & it's absolutely pants. Absolutely no power & it eats batteries. Anything other than a light touch with a disc stops the grinder!
OK, the brushless one might have better performance but as has been said, at that price you're getting close to a decent branded unit. Plus you'll need to buy another 4ah battery at £25 if you need to use it normally.
Our Men's shed has a brushless variable speed 18v Makita costing £125 for the bare unit, you can get a package of a grinder, charger & 2 4ah batteries for £229.

Yes, it's twice the cost of the lidl unit but it's more than twice the grinder! I've used it quite a bit & it's every bit at good as a 240v one.![]()
Yes i would not bother with the brushed Lidl grinders, useless as has been reported. But the Makita is well over twice the price of brushless one, for just using in a shed thats a lot of outlay. I have a couple of 110v corded small grinders and a whopper of a 9" Hitachi if i need to get serious, but for the small jobs i reckon this Lidl is enough at just under a ton.
I bought my 7" Metabo for the same reason....I have a 9 inch grinder and it's the only tool in the shed that has me proper scared. I don't use it much. A neighbour asked if he could borrow a disk grinder to hack off some tiling that projected across our shared drive. "Sure" I said, "do you want this lovely little Bosch 4.5 inch jobbie or the proper man size version?" "What's that?" he says, "oh the 9 inch one, I call it 'sudden death'". He went for the Bosch...
I can't understand why many peoples don't use it properly .For as long as it takes to nip the thing up with the spanner. It takes seconds. I've tied the spanner to the power cord on mine so it's always to hand but never hindering.
I had an accident with a grinder about 18 months ago and ever since it's use it properly or find a different way to do it.
