Thought I’d try one finally, first impressions- it’s not bad. It doesn’t like a lot pressure and trips the overload if you do, but as a tool for hanging off the bench and having to hand easily it’s pretty bloody good

We've got a lovely dewalt one, so much quieter than the corded versions, yeah it munches batteries, you can rea!ly attack with it.

Funnily enough I just bought a Milwaukee battery grinder to replace a parkside battery one. Twice the price.

Both brushless, the parkside will trip the overload at relatively gentle use. But the Milwaukee is as good as a wired machine, better or as good as my very old Hitachi battery grinder.

The only advantage of the Lidl machine is it takes 5" disks. Though I might modify a 5" guard from a dead grinder to fit the Milwaukee.

We use the milwaukee cordless ones at work, 125mm discs fit in the 115 guards fine on ours.

Which lidl one? The common green 20v ones are brushed motors. Not seen any of the "performance" black brushless type.
Worth cleaning them out often as the circuit board has little dust protection. I found on occasion mine will trip at nearly no load caused by a dirty pcb. I've had to repair the speed control too.

Mine has the 4.5", extra tight fitting guard, a massive pain getting flap discs in or out.

I am very suprised with the 12V mini one, smaller motor and battery, also brushed, but seems to have more useful power. Also the smaller centre bolt and guard means it has more usable cutting depth! So at the moment its been getting more use.

Milwaukee, I'm onto my 3rd, that's due to the use, I did get my first one a very long time ago, I wouldn't be without one now, purchased the instant the old one dies.

I'm sure the parkside will be useful but I wouldn't like to think how many of those I would go through.

For those fitting larger cutting discs - do check the discs are not over-speeded. Smaller diameter machines generally operate at higher rpms so rather higher surface speeds with larger diameters. Your risk if on your own, but no insurance cover if a third party claim arises.

The Lidl one is significantly under speeding the 4.5" discs, it should be 13k rpm and I believe it runs at 9k as best case with full battery. It wouldnt suprise me if its closer to 9" grinder speeds.

We use the milwaukee cordless ones at work, 125mm discs fit in the 115 guards fine on ours.

I have a 125mm & 115mm Bosch, (supplied sizes), but the guards are interchangeable & readily available plus not expensive new, so I can run either on both. Both same RPM.

They work much better with the larger battery, 4ah? and have a 3 year warranty...................

I run my dewalt with the large flex volt batteries when I'm using the wire wheel...I run out of energy long before the batteries do. Does make the tool heavy but I usually have the car flipped anyway so actually works very well.

I also use the same flex volt in the dyson...much better than the annoying batteries dyson supply that last 5 minutes!

Yes I’ve discovered that since. It eats batteries mine!

I have an Aldi 40v one and it's worth it's weight in gold for quick jobs as I'm on generator power only, all my battery tools are charged from my solar. I wouldn't bother with it on something like one cut of 50 x 50 box section though.

I bought 3 Aldi 40v grinders (so I could have cutting disk, flap disk and wire cup on the go at the same time).

They've been a brilliant tool, definitely paid for themselves by now.

The little M12 cut-off tool is very handy as well, wouldn't be without that now I've owned one.
