From Sunday theres a cheap flux cored which I'll avoid, but might be interested in the inspection camera and the wheeled boards, the dollies must be worth a lot more on their own

Has anyone got experience of the multi-tool saws that Lidl and Aldi have occasionally offered?

I have the Aldi one and its pants, lasted about five minutes before it committed tool Harakir . I would take it back but it was bought pre my photocopy the invoice just in case era.

Angle grinder has a hefty 1200W motor so should be capable. Not that I need another a/grinder.

I went into our local Lidl a couple of days ago, no grinders, but a box of drills found it’s way into the basket. 107 coated drills, 10 each of the smaller ones up to 3 8mm ones in a plastic case for £14.99 I think it was. I’ve bought their drills before & for the money they are good. Can’t go too far wrong at that price, more drills than I shall ever use/break!

Their grinders on off trigger has to be slid forward as a safety feature, but it often works as a danger feature!

As you pick it up it's so easy to nudge it along and start the grinder while you have a loose grip on it, when you least expect it.

Anyone else had this happen? Maybe mine's a dodgy one.

My Makita has this type of trigger but you really have to clamp your thumb on it before you push forward, no chance of accidentally starting it. You only need to press the back of the trigger down to stop it though.

I found that I started with 230v grinders, had half a dozen of them, moved to 110v grinders and now tend to use battery grinders! I tend to have two on the go together, one for cutting, other for cleaning/prepping. The Lidl grinder on offer isn't too bad at all for the money, I've got one and I'd happily buy another if I needed one. Better switch than their battery equivalent.

I've two 115mm angle grinders that I bought at the bootsales years ago for £1 each (Bought three but scavenged parts from one to mak another work) They're still fabe too!

One had a collapsed bearing in the gearbox, Went to see our fitters at work, Gave me two, One as spare but never needed it, The other two I bought were identical but one was burned out, The other had a long plastic remote rod snapped (From the electric switch to the thumbswitch), I removed the good one from the burned out unit and replaced the broken one!, I used one today to cut a 6mm threaded rod to repair my computer chair, The threads had gone and the back fell off, Almost did a back'ards summersault!

I also have an AEG 110v 115mm angle grinder that I bought from a very snooty lady at the bootsale for a fiver!, She had all the riding gear on and brought a load of stuff out the back of a Defender!, I had my doubts that it would work but it's perfect!

Have this 9" Bosch too that my brother bought me years ago when I did a bit of work for his business!

Here's a strange die grinder I bought from a bootsale many years ago, It was refurb'd, It said 100v (100v and not 110v ) on the label but had a domestic 13a plug, I plugged it in to a 240v outlet and the vibration was so bad it was tingling my hands!

Asked a sparky at work about it, ie, What would happen if I put 240v through a 110v tool, He said it would go twice as fast, As it's a 30,000rpm machine there's no wonder it was tingling my hands, I fitted a 110 plug and it's smashin! I use it on my Bonsai trees for creating sharis (Deadwood features)...
