Can anyone suggest a decent insurance specialist for third party liability covering welding, fabrication, vehicle repair etc.

I’ve tried the usual online quote but they don’t even recognise engineer / mechanic etc!!

Any decent broker should be able to place that risk, its not an online type of deal when its a mixed bag like that.

Have you tried these?. give them a call and tell them what you actually get up to, Ive been with them for years.

I'm with simply business. You may find the motorcar work comes under a separate policy.

Towergate and NFU as mentioned are the only other two who didn't mess me around

Third for nfu, have always been with them on the farm so got a price for mine when I went on my own. Probably dearer than others but their cover is just excellent.

I have just (last night) renewed my hot flame insurance with Simply business for 5 million...very good price too and it allowed me to cover my excess at 2.5K for an extra £45.

We had the garages with NFU not the cheapest but No messing you about, had house & sundry other policies with them.
left them due to not doing working a height 3/400 ft +.
Went back when I retired they were still good, friendly & helpful, the difference in cost was small the service was without fault.
2 cars, house, workshop.

This lot have done my Motor trade insurance for ages. You are actually talking to the organgrinder , not the monkey. I deal with a guy called Richard. They also do my public liability insurance for somewhere in the 2 hundred quid range . Thats welding and other mechanical sort of stuff that.
The online quotes won't ebven look at anything engineering related - it's too 'specialist'. I don't live in Hampshire...

I used Finch when I had a 14000 ft building, up to 10 staff, 5 car lifts etc. but when I asked them to cover me as a semi retired trader/repairer they wanted £6-7k

We did traders policy with NFU liability the whole 9yards, it was working at hight they would not do we were working on telecom masts, a real pig to get insurance on, the Co we went to wanted all our buiseness or we would have not moved most of it
