Level slab without guides.?

Having received ridiculous quotes for my floating slab, I am thinking of doing this myself.
So, is there a hireable screeding machine which doesn't need edge guides.?
The only way I can see of doing this is running rails, either row of columns, above the floor and suspending a vibrating screeding machine from it.
Anybody done this before.?
Other rail guide solutions from below the concrete level, would of course become a "cold bridge"

Insulation below screed?

Think about a liquid poured screed, there is a reason screening is expensive

If it was me, and judging from the picture your making an insulated workshop? I would make framework for the floor, insulate with celotex and board over.

or make a frame, fill with concrete and once set remove the frame?

Lay a row of concrete blocks just inside the edge insulation to match your floor insulation and screed thickness -12mm. Pack out the blocks with 12mm MDF to give you your screeding height, when finished remove packers and screed on top of blocks.
Not cheap or quick though.

As with all comments above not cheap or easy.

I'm planning a build but probably not on your scale though, I've managed to blag some steel shuttering type thing. Level and set out then make and compact sub base and pour concrete and level off.

Will post pictures when I get round to job in summer

how thick is your concrete going to be?
There is a certain utility in having a couple of girders concreted into the floor, running the full length/widthof the floor - tack big projects to it/weld eyes to attach winches/straighteners.
These could be your level guides to tamp off with a piece of 4x2
