i just realised two things about Lego.
First a bit of background: i've always had *some* lego, started with a little block car (not a volvo!) when i was 2/3 y/o, then a couple of technics sets into my teens.
it was always expensive, and precious.
first realisation: one of the reasons i dont like repairing mechanical stuff is because i've been conditioned with lego that *any* changes means an almost complete stripdown to component parts and a rebuild.
example: changed a damaged rear wheel on a motorbike model i just bought, had to strip down handlebars + half of engine.
ive carried that conditioning over into my entire adulthood: i cant accept "modularity"
second thing:
i can now buy as much lego as I like!!!
(four "joblot/bundles have arrived this week: £200 for about 3.5 banana boxes full )
its all soaking in a big bucket of mild bleach (sans motors/power packs) at the moment.
2.5:
the shafts of the cheap stepper and servo motors which come in the arduino kits are a "push fit" into the stud holes in technics beams.
which means micro-controlled models are a doddle.
