Here it is in its new home. As brought back and one after ten mins with clean up fluid and scraper n brush

Fine as far as I can tell moves fine especially after the clean

It's about six in jaw width
Someone on another forum just gave me the maker but my short term memory is shockingly bad

It's cleaned up nice but the picture won't load up here for some reason unknown

Not finished yet. Got a base plate made from 1/2" plate and a top plate from same done ( intend hanging an odd tool off it like bending forks)

Like the patina so that's staying

Will have it mounted some time this week, just shuffling things around so I can get a good walk around on the thing

Wiping that over with linseed oil whilst it's freshly done will give it some protection from corrosion Kent. Give it a day or two and then wipe it down with a fresh cloth, and that'll remove any excess but leave a thin film which'll keep it protected.

I don't think it actually might achieve anything
It's carries 4 fixings at the rear and the leg realy prevents it straining down not sideways
Drew up a sort of boss but when it's fitted in firm level contact it seems redundant
It's a swine to get everything all in correct square contact though and prior to modern fabrication tools etc I think setting it into the floor might have been essential

Im sure that the original leg vices that I saw years ago had the leg fitting into a cupped type of socket, Maybe there were different variations.
