LED tube brain fart

Any electrical gurus in the house can assist with some guidance on installing led tubes?
Cut a long story short I wrongly ordered 4xtubes which have been a nightmare on the shipping problems (that's a separate story) but my fittings haven't got starters? Just electronic ballast by the looks?
Rather than go through the hassle of returning etc, is there a way I can just bypass the ballast in the fitting and just wire in the replacement tubes to suit?
The new led tubes come with a specific led starter which I'm assuming has some other electrical wizardry inside? Although it just feels empty and what looks like a resistor inside?
I've attached some pics of what I've got and what I've purchased.

The starter is usually a link, they don’t need the ballast, you can remove it.

Cheers all....I did some online research...and chanced it before I gut the fitting.
Hopefully it will last the 30000 hrs

Yep.

the driver is actually part of the LED tube itself so the LED tube is a totally integrated stand alone unit which can simply be wired up to the mains. This means that if you are fitting an LED tube to a conventional fitting then you need to make a few simple modifications to the wiring.

The rating plate on the OP's tube confirms it - along with 'Not for use with electronic control gear'

Just cut and shut the first one...Nothing has caught fire yet!
Don't think the camera picks it up as well, but a comparison on the other fitting which is next for the operation

I seem to remember that the pre-HF fluro's took something like seven times the running current on strike-up, so it was often better to leave it on than keep switching it off and on.

Yeah, I changed our kitchen strip fluorescent for a LED tube. More light with about a third of the leccy consumption, immediate strike (hot or cold) and full illuminance from turn-on. Not just ‘win, win’ - more like ‘win, win, win, win’. AND my wife was happy, too - so yet another ‘win’.

I need to replace an 8goit tube in the garage that does not work even with a new starter.
But.....a direct replacement is £21.50 for a 100 watt version.

LED replacement is £39.90 for a 36 watt version....so why is it so much less power. Does it give the same or more light.

The short answer is that an LED lamp turns less of the energy it consumes into heat. Thus, more light for less power consumption. It's all down to efficiency.

I only want 1 X 8 foot tube and online they are 33 quid but min order 2 (and then it comes below the 70 quid free postage offer. ) Lol.

I got mine (20 odd of them!) from TLC Direct, that was complete battens though.

Have you considered fitting perhaps a 5ft twin batten?

The thing is I have two battens fitted in the same place. ones 4 foot and runs from a switch insdie the garage. I use this to just pop in the garge and grab something. I also have an 8 foot tube but thats stopped working and I have tried several starters. I use(d) this when I need more light to search things.

I am going to (when I get time) as its short just now due to baby sitting and the wife refuses to stay at home weekends. Its not a great probelm as there is always someone there at a weekend just not us. lol BUT longer projects such as wiring (because it need s lot of planning and stuff moving temperarilly whilst I get step ladders in etc.) are awkward. So I thought I woulkd replace the 8 foor flurescent with a LED but the price is insane..

I will most likely use LED Panels in the future as my son has 3 up and its like daylight in his garage. BUT extra expenditure and xmas coming up means I cant go mad just now...
It was more a thought of saving a few pounds due to rising leccy and gas prices..

Swap the whole fitting for an led strip, they are crazily bright.

Have you not got a decent electrical factors like Edmundsons near you? they will get an 8 foot tube for you, they may even have some in stock, worth having a ring around if you dont want to change the fitting

Shipping must be expensive for such items. I might guess that it would be cheaper to pick up just the one from a decent local electrical distributor. Mine are just 2 miles by car, or 15 miles away. Often better value than internet sales.

I have a CEF less than 2 miles but wanted to know what I was asking for first..lol
