Only plastic H4 connectors I had melt were on my first kit car where I wired the dip beams to stay on with the main - the current passing through the earth terminal made it get rather hot and melt it's way out.Ill probably just ask the tester. He had his own 110 CSW in bits in the back of the garage last time i was there. If i show him the ebay item he will give me a more conclusive yes or no than im getting here! : )
To clarify -
I had wipec crystal in the wings prior. They're no longer serviceable. The glass is fine, but the silver reflector is stuffed. And AGAIN i have found that, if you (or should i say, I) use the plastic H4 connectors, they melt. AND if i use the ceramic ones they're unreliable. AND i have one of those relay setups.
But, what i was asking is if the LED ones were legal... NOT halogen conversion unit. The one i put in the link. On my first post...
I do appreciate everyone's help, as i know that's what's intended, but sometimes its just madness here!
(and i know im equally as guilty at other times! : )
Given a good crimp to the wire, good contact on the bulb, the plastic bit only makes it convenient to plug the three terminals of the bulb in in one hit - you could push each terminal on one at a time and it would work.
Surprised about the Wipac lamps - mine are entirely plastic and the reflector is as good as the day they went in - admittedly a Caterham isn't exactly a daily driver all year round.
But to answer your slightly revised question - in general, I believe a full LED head lamp, designed as an LED headlamp, fitted in place of a halogen or sealed beam lamp should be perfectly fine edited to add - in-fact, exactly as per the Rapid Druid above ).
As to those LED headlights referenced in your original post - I'd repeat my concerns that they specifically are a worthwhile swap.
