Leather Sand Bag Protype

This reminds me of a conversation I had to have with a friend a while ago. She was googling for ages before becoming very frustrated not being able fo find what she was looking for. So I asked what it is she’s looking for, I want a roll of leather but I can't find any on a roll. Then when I explained leather doesn’t cone on a roll but in cow shaped pieces called hides, I was met with a very confused expression and she replied well that’s stupid, why is it not on a roll?

I’ve never had an apron for anything but recently I’ve been thinking I need one. Gonna start off with a kitchen apron first though. It won’t be made of leather, people may talk

Hi Parm, I wanted an old fashioned workshop apron for the shed, I couldn't find what I wanted for a decent price anywhere so we made one, (Mrs C did really) we bought some tent canvas from the local camping suppliers, I think it was a yard & a half by 54 inches wide from memory. We used a kitchen apron as a pattern & made it quite a bit longer to protect my trousers. Stitched a big pocket across the front & a small pocket for my glasses on the chest, put some tapes on & thats it really. From the material there is enough left over to make a second one if needed. The tent material is tough as old boots, far tougher than kitchen apron material. I used to use a leather apron before but it's quite weighty & you can't wash it when it gets too disreputable.

Working sheet metal you'll find that you either spend some money on an apron or spend 3 times on band-aid and shirts.

If you put small shot in or as they are basically lead balls----- doesnt it then become, not a sand bag and more of a ball bag ?

I've got a couple of 1kg lead shot filled pouches from when I used to go scuba diving if you want some lead shot. Not sure when, but I should be coming up to Northampton in the next month or so to visit relatives

I wanted a sand bag.
Just so happens my mum and dad are buying a new leather settee. I had a look at their
old one and the largest panels are on the backrest, so I have mentaly dibbed them.
I mentioned it[asked when could I come along and chop the leather out] and it seems my
mum wanted to a new settee the same colour, so my dad chopped a big chunk out of the
middle of the backrest!

Is shot better than sand?

Find a house clearance type charity shop.
They often get sofas/suites that don't have a fire tag.
They'll let you skin them for a donation.
