Learning to play the Sax

About the same time that Covid really took off, I had booked my first Sax lesson - which got cancelled. Keep thinking about looking it again - any sax players out there with advice about getting started?

I have nothing of value to add, beyond the fact the sax is the sleaziest instrument ever. You need to be wearing tiger print leggings and be shirtless to play it

the daughter used to play one. paid for private lessons wasnt a lot of money once a week was wanting to join the royal marines band but never managed to get in, then became a weapons engineer instead on hms ocean and hms northumberland servicing misiles phalanx guns miniguns and toprpedoes

If it's something you want to do go for it.
Can you already read music?
Have you played a musical instrument before?
i would recommend getting started on a recorder, should be cheap to buy something half decent plus a beginners book. The fingerings are basically the same for when you get your sax, you may still benefit from lessons but will have at least given yourself a head start.
i presently play cornet in a brass band, have had a teeny dabble on sax a very long time ago.
