Well i had a go at welding the chassis on my Minor.
Its about 1-1.2mm thick
These are the welds that i made running a sealey 170 mightymig on power setting 1 wire speed 4 using CO2
What i noticed was that the penetration was not the best and it kept blowing through making a hole. I tried the method described on here about waving either side of the join but this also kept blowing through.
Any help is appreciated.

It's difficult to see those welds as the photo is too distant but they look a little on the cold side to me, especially the bottom one.
If you're on power setting 1 and you're blowing holes in the chassis then the parent metal of that part of the chassis must be very thin. No way should you be blowing holes in a sound chassis.
What size wire are you using?

As you push the torch away from you once the arc starts, steepen the angle of the torch to the metal and don't hang about in one place too long. You shouldn't need to weave the torch about if your joints are close enough just weld to the edge of the best stuff and run over onto the thinner.

Wire size is 0.6mm

sorry fir being a bit dumb but how would I get more heat into them?
