Lean-to

Looking to put a lean-to at the side of 12x8 shed, was thinking of doing 6 foundation points 4 for corner posts and 2 for middle posts
And in time maybe enclose it on 3 sides to make it 16x12 was wondering what size to do these foundation blocks (shuttered concreted) 2x2 feet ?
Any advice ?

Depends on the ground but sounds ok, probably even more you will need.
Just make sure you dig down to good firm ground.

Do you really need the posts for the side next to the existing shed?
You could probably support the roof off the existing structure

What construction will the lean to be made from?

I did think about just 3 posts and supporting it on existing shed but even though shed is in reasonable condition in future I will be able to replace each side of existing shed one at a time
I did think of some chunky timbers for the posts but to buy good quality timber ( not green ) may be very expensive even though I've not priced up yet I'm thinking 3x3 or 4x4 box section and slot the top to support roof.

Considering a good shed has 50mm x 50mm framework and many on the market have less that that I don't think you need to go over the top if technically all you are doing in the end is extending the present shed.

Ahh yes, typical home made extensions being like Irn bru,,, made from girders.

I used 2 x 3 for the framework of the recent lean to shed on the back of my garage. With all the panels screwed together & the roof slotted in place it's solid! Even stood on the roof to test its strengthen
