shed roof is leaking through the felt nails,
i have tried that cold applied black tar out the tin but still the water comes in.
what is best to cover over them to stop this?
We did my mates shed roof by buying some cheap corrugated plastic and putting that over the top of the felt. worked a treat. 3 years on still dry as a bone in the desert sun.
Are you sure it's not running between the felt and the roof then appearing where the nails are, that's what mine did..the leak was a couple of feet from the nails.
If it was just the nails I would have expected the application to cure the problem.
The water ingress is likely somewhere else, further up the roof, as Steve suggests. The nails are merely a convenient drip point for water. If applying bitumen to the brads externally didn't stop the leak, they ain't the source.
last shed i did i glued a second layer of felt to the top no nail holes through this so no holes for leaks, the glue was some bitumen based tar like stuff i had to heat as it was cold, then blushed on thick and two of us stuck the new felt on.
