LCD TV Bracket

Ok guys, just bought a new sofa, which will finally let me get my LCD tv up on the wall instead of having it stuck on a stand in the corner.

Having checked round, I can't find a bracket suitable for less than about £70 quid, and being tight as a ducks ***, was thinking about making one up myself.

Anyone else done or tried this? Did you have any unexpected problems?

As you might imagine I really don't want my TV crashing down off the wall and landing on my 20 month old daughters head!!!

I got one from Argos for £50ish.

If you make your own and the tv comes crashing down, chances are your insurance company won't pay out either!!!!

Quite simple really, taking your time will be the key, ensure you make a nice job of it even though its hiden behind a tele.

Not sure what your skill level is or what tools you have access too.
Do some designs, dont be afraid to over engineer it, better that than make it to flimsy.
Think about rotation and movement, and how it fixes to the tv.

A couple of C shapes, with m8 bolts as pivots spring to mind...

Get a cheap one & mod it to suit. I bought a celing mount in a sale for £3.60. It now holds a 15" pc monitor in the car for the dvd player. Shortened by 12" & made a new plate to mount to the screen.

I just hung my 80# 42" TV on the wall except mine is in the corner. I could not find any brakets i liked so i made them from 1/8" wall 1" sq tubing with some 1/4" x 2" flatbars on the ends. I put 2 strips of hard oak wood on the wall first the right distance apart to match the holes in the tv then bolted the brackets to the wood...Bob

Mine cost the cheapest, just had to cut some tube up to make 12 legs and join the M6 all thread. Boards and glass cut and drilled etc, all free and class looking.

Most sellers on ebay are not authorised to sell unless proper trade. Even then you will find nearly all the products are old hat.

Theres more work involved than you think in a corner wall mount, unless its permanently fixed non adjustable. The problems arise with the play in the numerous joints and the weight 'out at some distance' away from wall.

£406 .......in my defence size and corners weren't mentioned ,only wall and tv ......i used to have a 20" crt on a swivel wall mount from b&q for £20.......i'd be making one at that price
