Hi,thickest material with mig won't be heavier than 4-5mm mostly a lot less .weight is not a concern . Material will mostly be mild steel ,occasional bit of aluminium.Similar question been asked a few times before, if you search under buying a welder there are posts like: https://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/threads/mig-under-lb600.101202/, realise that post is above your budget.
Next questions are how thick/thin material do you want to weld?
What materials?
Does it need to be light/mobile?
I have had an R-Tech 180 for 5 years and am happy with it, they sell shop soiled Migs at a discount, otherwise full price now makes it not as good a buy as it was 5 years ago, though their interest free deal can be attractive.
Good luck in your search.
So around 180 Amps should be adequate, Aluminium will need another gas bottle: Argon and likely a spool gun.Hi,thickest material with mig won't be heavier than 4-5mm mostly a lot less .weight is not a concern . Material will mostly be mild steel ,occasional bit of aluminium.

Maybe adams gas is cheaper than SGS, I bought my gas 6 months ago for an eye watering £237.60 inc VAT for a 30L 15% CO2/argon mix. (£78 gas, £120 deposit + VAT) I got a 30l after reading threads on the topic here and recommending a large bottle if you are new to MIG (there is a thread somewhere about it) as you don’t want to buy more than 1 rent-free bottle a year (otherwise rental works out cheaper)Half of his budget?
My welder came with a bottle regulator, as does the R-tech 180 MIG. A 10 litre bottle from Adams Gas is currently about £112 for deposit and refill.
I refurbished rather than restored ,The mill was bought for £60 ,it was in amazing condition considering the age of it all the ways still had the machining marks very little wear on the leadscrews . I tried to source a vertical head for it with no success ,well I did but the price was extortionate so I made my own . I also had a fortis 12" swing lathe http://www.lathes.co.uk/fortis/... Regret selling themFrom your profile picture, are you restoring a Centec 2? There are quite a few Centec owners on here, myself included, great wee machines.
Budget is just for the machineJust remember gas will blow half your budget with a the bottle deposit and a reg…unless you go down the pub gas (CO2) route…
Thanks bobHave a look at duty cycle, some of these welders are as low as 35% at max while others are 60%.
