Hello all,
After my first little welding project of my mx5 I know have another car to try out my new found skills.
The story behind this KA goes bit like this; after selling the mx5 in the summer for 5 times what I bought it for i had some money burning a hole in my pocket. this was quickly spent on a new project a 1989 mini city e (i'll stick a thread up about that at some point).
Well my wife decided she wants to learn to drive again and with the mini being not fit for purpose (engine in bits next to car) a plan was struck to find a car for less than £400 for Vicky to use.
So i found this KA going locally and cheap, just out of MOT, spotted a little hole that needed welding on the sill and got it for £150. Bargain I thought a relatively modern car for peanuts and 100% better than the micra i bought 2 years ago for £175.
So I drove it back home and parked it up on my mates drive after stealing the spare from my sisters KA and her battery as this was dead.
On assesment the KA required new front brakes, service long over due and a spot of welding. on to the pics
decided to freahen up the drums
I then found out I am getting made redundant and will loose my company car so i got on with servicing this and attacking the rust. so i will have a car to use.
New mintex discs and pads
Coolant flush and refresh
Set of wheel trims to make it look looked after.
I then attacked a couple of small rust holes which has resulted in this.
Interior out to access more holes
found enough for a pint after taking the carpet up which is a bonus
hopefully i am going to start welding tonight, first time welding outside, anyone got any tip?
I know to try and sheild my work area to stop the gas blowing away etc anything else?
hopefully more pics tonight.
Matt
