Hi does anyone have a metal lathe in the northeast who could turn a new alternator pulley for me if I brought the old one as I'm restoring a 1968 landrover s2a and have put a daihatsu engine in but in the process of doing so have managed to damage the alternator pulley and they aren't made anymore

Not so long ago I was buy those alternator's brand new for £60....upgrading old tractors....

The original alternator pulley may be repairable.
What is damaged on it?

The v the belt runs in has a big chunk missing out of it unfortunately

Looks to me that it'd be easier/better to turn a new one, being that its a plan V belt rather than polyV. Cast iron?
Does it have a plain stepped bore, or keyed / splined?

Is the pulley from the Daihatsu engine?
S2a pulley is cheap but looks a bit different, if this pic is the actual item.

Looks like a different pulley to me. I have had poor experiences with rimmers, although more for returns than purchases...I know some people love them but I'd not use them again personally...I bought a set of shocks for my D2, received a set that didn't fit (wrong mounts etc) and was basically told it must be my vehicle that was wrong, not the parts...

Another option, which could be less time and material than turning from solid, is finding something with the correct vee-profile and diameter, removing its centre and then joining it to the good centre of the one you have.

With the one you have, it could be possible to turn off the broken flange, shrink fit a much less massive piece of cast iron onto the stub and then only re-make less than half the overall item.

I will build it up with TIG brazing then re machine or make one from the solid
