Lathe vent

I have just drilled a 34mm hole in the shed wall, I have some 32mm tube to poke through and mortar in place. plan to use a blower for extracting any cutting smoke. The hole was drilled horizontal which may be a mistake - I dont want rain coming in.

Im unsure how to cover the outside Cant see any small vent covers on ebay, most are 6", I could fabricate one but it would look rubbish.
I will put some fine mesh at both ends to stop insects and swarf.

In the dim and distant past I fitted a computer fan to the end of a piece of plastic drain to vent microwave hot air out through a wall cupboard to the inlet of the cooker hood. Would adding such a fan be an option for you? I meddled with the internals of the microwave to take a switched live to an old wall wart to power the fan whenever the microwave fan was running.

Just use non smoking cutting fluid? Disolvable suds are much better than a face full of smoke from burning oil.

Stick a tea strainer over it.

Get a piece of that aluminium mesh you can get for car body filler repairs, & make the shape & size you need. Easily bent & cut.

Cant use suds as the motor is sitting where a quarter of the chip tray used to be, stuff underneath Id prefer not to get wet. Shed is tiny so less water splashing around the better

Plan is I will weld the 32mm tube to a bit of plate and weld another angled tube to that. Then mortar the plate and tube into the brick. Not sure where to put the mesh as I want the outer open so I can plug it in winter. Maybe a removable mesh plug and solid plug.

That means I need to make up the plate first. I have just enlarged the hole a bit. I should temp block it with mortar or expanding foam as I doubt I will finish it this week.
