Need one to keep. Borrow a mates at moment but don't like borrowing stuff
Water level: Unlikely to go wrong. Will not get mis-aligned when you throw it into the back of a truck. Will not wobble on a windy day. Does not need direct line-of-sight (can "see" round corners, or level from one room to another).Good water level is hard bet
If buying a laser level for outdoor use, get one with a heavy tripod that will be stable in strong winds.

I've seen screeders using the new digital version of a water level, absolutely fantastic tool perfect for this application. It's amazing, still needs a long tube but accuracy that you wouldn't believe. And really good value. Also a lot slower for most tasks And pretty impractical on a building site.
We don't even have leads on site let alone a length of pipe trailing around.
Have you seen the ones I linked to above? Takes them to a whole new dimension, but I might not be throwing it around. If buying a laser level for outdoor use, get one with a heavy tripod that will be stable in strong winds.
