yep its a must for setting out recessed lights and setting sockets cant be without itWouldnt do me much good.
Only got mine a few years back but wouldnt be without it.
Set it up against one wall on a plasterboard prop and gives me a line around the whole room. Great for kitchens and tiling.
For studding its great too. Wraps around wall ceiling and floor transfer with pencils to walls and rafters and dont need to mess around with spirit levels.
Has a lock too so can use it for setting out stairs etc.
For leveling up kitchens I have the remains of an old folding rule fixed to a block of wood. Set the level 50mm or so above unit height and watch the laser on the ruler.
Bet @brightspark findsbit handy for layilaying out spots and sockets too.
I mark up on the floor and transfer to the ceiling with the laser.
I bought one the other week .It went back same day! It wasn't any use outside with the sun shining onto the area.
Will have to just carry on with string line and bubble etc.
Eek.I have a cheap laser and it disappears unless it’s inside and 500mm away from something !
That is often where I am, trying to get things to look level when the nearest visual clue is a ceiling grid that is not level, it's all part of the game.I p...d off a kitchen fitter with mine. set all the sockets up in a kitchen level . he fit kitchen with units either side of kitchen and floor wasn't level when it was all tiled. it showed on socketshe blamed me
customer ranted on at me till I set laser up and proved he had cocked up and not me

There is a "level" where price of acquisition out ways benefit to a buisness.shell out and buy a proper one then
big £££££ I bought a pls one years ago wasn't cheap but good pls = pacific laser company
Oh yes the one I bought was a bosh I unfortunately tested it outside when it was very overcast at dusk (was fine). Next day In my yard in proper daylight it struggled at a few feet.True enough.
But I bought a cheap Lidl one recently. I had no immediate use for it but used it for some minor setting out in the garage. Never expected to use it for anything more challenging than small scale tiling or shelving etc.
For giggles I tried to use it in my son's garden to throw a level from house to garage - about 20 metres. Waited until dusk, ran around with a sheet of paper and found I could pick up the level at that range.
I was stunned.
Much easier than an Egyptian Laser - string and water level.
You’ll not regret it.
