Laser engraving anodised aluminium

This one is for @Hood

15W laser diode engraver.
Chickens done at 200mm/min, Snoopy done at 100mm/min.

The laser uses LaserGRBL, and I just selected it to vectorize and do a single outline.
In the flesh there's not much difference between the chickens and Snoopy, so I suspect it would need a less focused beam (you can adjust focus on the diode lasers), or to double up the lines.

Interesting. I assume it is burning the dye but leaving the anodise intact.

Depends how strong your laser is, but at this power, it just burns the pigment out the dye.

That's how we do rafter squares at work, but I think it burns the anodising off because marks are silver rather than the coppery look yours has. I don't often use the laser, but ours seems to be a balancing act between power and focus I don't think we can adjust the speed.
