laser cutting?

have I gone mad here or did I not see a recommendation of a good laser cutting service on here yesterday? I cannot find it today!

oops well at least im not blind ha ha I didn't know he was a spammer, i finally got the dimensions of all the bits to the folding knife I wish to make and wanted to get a few parts laser cut for a bit of fun, im also looking for the correct tool steel for the blades and the spring steel for the springs,wonder if they can be laser cut too?

Laser cutting tends to put quite a bit of heat into the metal doesn't it? Which is especially bad for sping steel and possibly not that great for the tool steel either. So I would say getting it waterjet cut would be a better idea?

The opposite - it puts very little heat into the material.

im cad illiterate but I do have a scale plan view of all the parts I want made, would this be enough to send to the cutters or should I send it as cad drawings?

Cutters invariably want DXF files.
They *might* convert your plans, but will charge [1] you for the privelege.


and when I say "charge" I mean "bend over & marigolds - no lube"

what if I send them the lube? water based,i believe custard will suffice
