I need to replace some 1000w metal halide floodlights on my lighting tower. Has anyone got experience of 300-500w Chinese made led floodlights? They are about 1/4 of the price of UK ones ( which are probably Chinese made anyway)
its just pot luck buying the Chinese ones .all the branded names are made in china but the components are of a better quality and guaranteed . I never fit cheap stuff at customers houses as its me that looses by having to go back and refit for nothing
I would agree in some circumstances. Ie, if I had to hire a cherry picker and move heavy machinery to get them installed and was paying a sparky to connect them.
If you can do the job yourself and it's not too difficult then there is a price difference.
On the horse arena it was a choice of chinese lights or no lights at all.
We have a few electrical suppliers in Hereford, the one I use is a place that always seems to supply quality kit and if they have issues they find something else.
I bought my Ansell Tornado Pro LED batens from them and they are amazing. I wanted some LED floods and I assumed they would stock Ansell but they switch to Ledvance, very impressed with them. The 50w are really small and even if the light is vertical the shadow on the floor is almost in line with the light. The light output is amazing.
I've bought cheaper LED floods, the sort where you get a pack of 5 on ebay. They have been ok but the light output has gone down and they are probably twice as big as the ones I've just bought.
It's amazing to think you can have 10 floodlights running for what 500w halogen uses.
