Large diameter round brass

I have a job to do and I need two pieces of brass bar 130mm dia x 45mm.

Can anyone recomend a supplier?

Also it has to be cored through to about 83mm ID but I don't thing cored bar is avalable in brass at these dimensions?

It seems Such a waste boating 83mm of brass away

Could you possibly switch to bronze instead? Much easier to find bronze cored bar.

Matt thanks, if it where 90mm it would be just the job but just on the short side. I knew I had heard some one on hear talking about big brass bar.

Acton Bright up the road from here has just about everything, their stock is impressive. They have sliced off inch thick billets of 300mm OD bar for me in the past, I would be very surprised if they did not have what you want. http://www.actonbrightsteel.co.uk/

Yes but it might be cheaper if you could find cored bronze instead of solid brass.

As for plating I'm not entirely sure.

Perhaps somebody could offer you some advice if you told us what the application is.

It's a pair of purely of decrotave items I have been asked to make for a freind 90% of the material (if solid) will be turned to swarf.

So brass / bronze would not matter as long as the finished article looked right.

Can't help with a supplier, but don't drill and bore it, if you 'trepan' it out you will get at least a 75 mm dia core to use again!

Well tbh I have just been thinking about sticking it on the rotary table in the mill and milling the core out first.

Bronze plates very well. Lots of upmarket traditional marine equipment is plated bronze.
