Some lads use sections to turn model loco wheels, probably 7 1/4 or 10 1/4 inch gauge.

Cheaper that castings and you don't need to make steel tyres.

Could be used for anything really. Bet there heavy though!

We use big lumps of bar for hydraulic motor bits. We had a shaft two years ago about 800mm dia, but the biggest piece so far was 1.8m diameter (by about 200mm long)
