he cant look in those places windows wont boot upIf the offending "diagnostic" software runs at every sartup, there are probably three, possibly four places to look for it.
With Windows running:
1. In the start menu, under "startup". If it appears in the Startup folder, delete the entry.
2. Hit the Windows key + "r" and in the command line type msconfig and hit enter. Look for the offending software in the Startup tab. Uncheck the entry. Click OK, then click on Restart.
3. Look in Scheduled Tasks (Start | Accessories | System Tools | Scheduled Tasks) and remove any entries to the offending software.
4. In Services - (Start | Settings | Control Panel | Administrative Tools). Click on Services, and if it appears there, disable the service.
After removing any entries using the above, restart the machine.
There are a couple of other places these nasty pieces of work can lurk e.g. as a browser plugin. Let us know how you get on.
Looking for one lol. whats annoying is I cant get one from microsoft download as the windows code is worn out and some git has half inched mine, although mine is enterprise...still never needed it and only just looked for it. buggars.forget that thenfind a free equivalent

A mate has given my son his laptop that has diagnostic software on it.
And asked him to see if I can sort it.
Well I start it up and it already has start up repair running . I have never had much luck with that program anyway but it says this program can not be cancelled and several hours later still the same blue bar going from left to right.
So my question how do I get the damn repair to stop running and what's the best plan of attack bearing in mind I am trying to save the os and programs on the computer if possible.
