Lantern brackets.

Mrs Norm bought three solar powered lanterns but the supplied brackets were only about 18 inches high, wanting to fix them at a greater height I made these up. The tabs enable them to be screw fixed to the fencing panel cross rails and they should be a bit more robust in strong winds.
here they are freshly painted and awaiting fitting

Thanks this was done with a picket twister I got for a song on the bay of evil. If you look on my weathervane thread there's a home made tool I copied off a chap on you tube which gives good results.

Made that out of a left over length of decking about 4 years ago, get birds nesting in it every year. very relaxing to watch them using it.

i made an open plan type, with a pointy roof and 4 pilars holding it up, for my grandparents, and they love having birds in it

so i might make a similar one from angle iron? and a bit of plate? lol

i have big plans for when i have a shed lol. biggest portamig i can find, lathe, and some fancy metalworking bits and ofcourse the bsa bantam im hoping to buy off my mate, for full restoration

haha. its not so much when i get a shed you need to worry, its when i get a bigger mig, as i'll probably start getting ambitious then, trying to build choppers, lowrides, and trikes

Do they all work?, we probable have about 30 of various sizes/types between home & stable and about 25% failed quite quickly

so far so good, the cheap ones we've had previously haven't fared so well but the most recent ones bought from wilkinsons appear to have reasonable quality rechargeable batteries in them and are well made and weatherproof which appears to be what seperates the good from the bad.

also, how many donors did you use? i already have one steel tube framed mountain bike, 21 inch wheels, front and rear suspension, and possibly have a slightly smaller (18 inch wheels i think) steel framed one too, and maybe able to get hold of another 21 inch, rusted, so obviously steel, bike from behind my college
