Landy prop shaft

Anyone know how much spline should be showing on a defender prop shaft when the vehicles sat normally? Need to shorten one and lengthen the other due to a change in drive train, but not sure what length it needs to be

Put axle against bump stops, then there should be almost no spline visible.

Hang axle at maximum, does the prop shaft fall out?

Still a pain to measure no matter which way you do it, I would also favour setting the axle on the bump stops and having the splines just short of bottoming out. It all changes again if the landrover has longer shocks/extended travel, some have enough travel to knock the spline seal out of place on full droop, that can be gotten around by using a chopped up steering rack gaitor in the place of the spline seal.
