well Richards chassis rang today and there starting my chassis . have started thinking of what im going to need to do the job and got to thinking of painting. what primer do i need? planing to strip back to bear ali as much as i can with nitromorse

37tho wear on three cylinders. still thinking of geting it bored out but haveing found the holes in the chassis thats taken priority at the moment. got the chassis built without the batttery tray so that the 200 will fit in. i have has the thorght of fitting the injector pump to the 2.25 i have got in another landy as the blocks look the same as does the head

Got my chassis back from galv, turned out not too bad for a 38 year old bit of steel
Going to have to get my finger out and finish it now..

Shiny. How did the bulkhead hold up to it

The bulkheads a sore point! (The one in the pic behind the chassis is a defender one)
I sorted the bulkhead the other week, then like an idiot i proceeded to sell it!
But i have another one to replace it, just means it holds the rebuild up.

Have you got a hi-lift jack?

its on HUGE casters at the front that should roll down the trailer as the back comes off. Was thinking of taking the weight of the back with an engine crane while i take the 250KG of ballast out of the front. then letting the back of the trailer down, with a winch on the front to stop it rolling, taking the straps off and let the winch out while it rolls gracefully off the back!

Chock the trailer wheels until you know what the load's trying to do, it may try and "squirt" it forward, if you see what I mean?

good idea it may well try to shunt it forward as all the weight is at the rear the ballast was added to give it some nose weight but its still a bit snaky to tow i think its due to being top heavy but at below 40 its OK so the landy will tow it just fine!

If it's "tail heavy" enough, support rear with engine crane, remove ballast and lower with crane onto timber baulks allowing trailer to tip (leave straps on!) reposition crane to front and lift, remove straps, lift a bit more and roll trailer out?
