We've had to "adjust" quite a few things on the Series IIA I've been helping rebuild, like the hardtop, the doors, the wings and the bumpers. The headlamps are back in their rightful place as well and a one piece read door (two now as one is being refurbished) It needs the drivers door pillar sorting as it must have been installed by a cross-eyed monkey but it will have to wait as he can't keep out of it long enough to work on it

Nice thing is, 2 nuts to remove top and fit a new (or good S/H) one. Craddocks used to do new frames at a good price, just swap the glass over.

i have all the new bits needed to replace the doors and repair the bottoms for future use but decided to run the old one over the winter to save a years road salt on the new ones.
on way to a job today did a bit of fording through a local ford that was a bit higher than normal decided that it might not have been such a good idea when water started poring in. however she made it through but my mate looked a bit white

It's OK as the water just pours out again through the same holes!

Don't forget to cavity wax the door box sections when you repair/replace.

i have two tins of wax oil ready to go in the cavities have 4 lengths of repair section to rebuild the frames of the old doors but the tops are totally gone

The tops are only £25 or so, bare. Plus a few squid for the channel kits. My tops were shagged, someone had adjusted them with a BFH... Easy enough to re-glaze. Tiger Sealed my runners on instead of faffing with the self-tappers. Swill primer and wax around the tops first.
Fitting the tops was a right game though, new tops & seals fighting the door gap. Seems a common thing.
Glad it's going well. Mine is sold and in Sweden now sadly.

Don't bother with the Military spec ones, they're useless!, I put some flat front Range Rover ones in mine.

I was navigating for mate in a IIA L/W doing recovery on a car rally, we were in the middle of a welsh forest in pitch black when one his headlights went, I was quite chuffed I managed to get us through with only one 50W yellow "candle" for illumination!

Next rally, he turned up with 4 "halfords specials" spotlamps across front bumper.

i have 80/100 watt in the main lights and 6 55W spots. was driving the works 110 last week in the dark very scary

I gather driving on convoy lights is quite interesting.
