Couple of thoughts from my side:

1. As you can see, someone has already removed the rear cross panel, so we've got nothing to measure from to determine where the new panel should finish up. Can anyone give a dimension to a reference point from the back to somewhere on the chassis rail?

2. Any tips for removing the fuel tank? I believe that access is limited, but sometimes there's a 'way' with theses things.

@Tinbasherdan How much would you want for the repair panel you mentioned? Would you consider sending by courier?

i think courier would be more hassle than its worth to me to be honest

The chassis length is determined by where the rearmost lugs on top of the chassis section bolt to the body tub, the problem is the height as this new section can move up and down a few inches. My suggestion would be to look at the door shuts and fit, lifting the body up and down at the rear of the vehicle will play havoc with the door alignment so I would suggest finding the sweet spot and go with that.

Another tip you might want to be aware of,i dont know where you've got your replacement rear cross member from,(hopefully LR),BUT check to see if all the captive nuts are inside the box section.
I had one once(not from landy) where it fitted fine etc etc,but was missing the nuts for where the mud flaps go plus the tow bar nuts also,was a PITA trying to sort it out once welded on

Get hold of a copy of the workshop manual for the vehicle or google it. Should have a chassis drawing like this.....
