lack of motivation

just sat in the house for the last 4 days watching the tv think im going to have to get my ass in to gear and get something done tomorrow as its not good when work picks up I wont want to go back

I find a good tidy up gets you into a better frame of mind to tackle the jobs you want to actually do

i get up every day and do something otherwise it would drive me nuts and i get itchy feet often

over last few weeks ive been kinda clearing my chest a little and a change of routine on some things to aid me out

I had to do same when i became a single parent to really young children would have gone stark raving crazy if i hadnt kept on doing odd bits of building work somewhere

Yeah its very cold out. I have been amusing myself working on and painting a garden bench. Its too big to do in the shed, so i am doing it outside. Gave up today, too cold out.

I never have the telly on during the day, although I do listen to Radio 5 Live. I'm even given up on that now that all that's being talked about is CV-19, although we acknowledge it's serious I don't want to hear all the doom & gloom predictions all day.

If I'm not in the cave, I'm reading a book, grass cutting etc or getting with other chores about the house. Boredom is an attitude of mind....

get a loverly waste incinerator going and burn off some things i did in the cold was loverly and warm burning it off for 3 nights

had to build it first so passed time making one while it was cold

nice brew for start of it then another halfway through though i stank of fire when i came in but at least i was warm doing it

i havent got many but at other house theres loads to do its materials and cost thats the problem there

can only do what we can with what we already have now then get some when younger bro gets near a building suppliers again

I've been cracking on outside in the garden- prefer it this time of year as it isn't too warm if you are working up a sweat. So far I've dug out some trenches for running services, pruned and chipped and logged, now on to erecting a fence.
Might be touch and go on the concrete for the posts as it is running low and Travis Perkins are not even delivering outstanding orders until further notice.

Still there is a pile of stuff in the workshop to sort when I’ve run out of materials – I think keeping busy is the key now, especially if you are the practical type. Too much time to think and stagnate is going to be the difficult thing.

Borrow my wife. She is ill at the moment so I look in on her every hour. That should keep you occupied.
When she is well she wants cups of black tea and constant tasks doing. Oh and the more you do the more she will want doing. Lol

I was tired yesterday after working last week, so went to sleep at 9pm now Im wide awake so may as well go and do some work in my garage. hope my sleeping returns to normal sometime soon. and on a positive note Ive given up watching tv the last few weeks. I ended up just watching 3 programmes, which were Dr. Who, Top Gear and The Last Leg, now the series have all ended the TV hasn't been switched on. off now to make the bodies for the gas valve, check valve, and the water level electrodes for the steam engine Im making.

I listen to Audible books, and seldom watch tv much. Too easy to sit down in front of the goggle box, and veg out. Before you know it, the day’s gone, and although it’s nice to do that once every blue moon, it’s a bad habit to get into.

I would recommend keeping a routine of some sort going, or when you get back to work, your heart won’t be in it.

Oh, and most boredom isn’t having nothing to do, it’s having lots to do, but no motivation to get on with any of it.

I’ve been feeling the same. Makes me wonder how i ever go to work! Just want to sit down and stare at this iPad. What’s going on is probably having a greater affect on us mentally than we realise. Nothing seems worth the bother at the minute.
I play bass guitar in a band. No rehearsals at present and what is normally our music room is now a very tidy home office for mrs waddycall so the gears all been put away. For the last two days I’ve made a point of getting my gear out and practicing for at least half an hour, jamming along with YouTube backing tracks and the like. Having a bit of normality has made me feel loads better.
