L.E.D. Timing? (1980s Rover thing?)

The specifications section in a Rover mini workshop manual says about "L.E.D." timing. From what I can work out, it is a similar concept to a magnetic timing probe except that it uses light passing through a slot instead. I have no idea what other engines used it if any. I've found a few people who say Crypton made equipment to do it but I can't find any pictures or documentation. All I can find is the below details in the manual and then various posts where people ask what the bracket is for on the timing cover.

Has anyone seen it before or have pictures/documentation?

I see that as just a normal inductive timing gun and ignore the LED.
